Romania’s absorption rate of structural and cohesion funds increased by 0.72% in February over January, from 51.87% to 52.59%, according to the European Funds Ministry.

The current absorption rose by EUR 57 million, from EUR 9.96 billion in January to EUR 10.02 billion in February.

The Regional Operational Programme absorbed EUR 57 million, and its absorption rate reached 58.57% over 57.14% in January.

At the beginning of March, European Funds Minister Eugen Teodorovici said that Romania will reach a 80% absorption rate for European funds by the end of this year. “It’s a crucial year because it’s the last one when we can attract the resources allocated for the programming period 2007-2013.”
