Romania's external debt goes up 4.8% end-November

Romania was 4.8 percent further in debt in the first 11 months of last year than during the same period the year before. Its external debt reached EUR 96.8 billion during this period, according to data from the country's Central Bank (BNR). External debt was slightly down on October 2011, when it was EUR 96.9 billion.

The medium and long-term debt made up the lion's share of the total – some 77.8 percent of it. The country's short term debt was EUR 21.5 billion at the end of November last year – 10.2 percent higher than at the end of 2010.

Medium and long-term deposits created by non-residents were up to EUR 8.4 billion, from EUR 8.2 billion at end-2010.
