Romania's Fiscal Council: third budget review violates law, PM does not agree
The most recent budget amendment violates several laws and shows the Government's inability to program and implement the budget, according to Romania’s Fiscal Council, which also says that the advance payment of some salary rights will not reduce the pressure on the 2015 budget, reports local Mediafax.
Prime Minister Victor Ponta however said that he will never understand the Fiscal Council's opinion on the third budget amendment this year.
"We can choose not to pay anything that has to be paid in 2015 and finish the year with a 0.2% GDP deficit, but next year we'll still have to pay all executory titles, arrears and everything that comes from previous years. It is a decision I agreed upon with the European Commission and the International Monetary Fund. I'll never understand the Fiscal Council’s view. This amendment helps us pay the final court sentences won by teachers, civil servants, magistrates and it's the first time when the central government’s private companies or local authorities will have no arrears," said Ponta.
