Romania’s fiscal lottery draws have disregarded the procedures described by the Fiscal Lottery Law and all the results have been misinterpreted.

According to the law, the draw should first extract the units, then the tens figure and then the hundreds figure, to determine the tree-figure sum on the winning receipts. However, at each draw, the Finance Ministry selected the hundreds figure first and the units figure last, reports local Economica.net.

At the first draw, for example, when RON 6 fiscal receipts were declared winners, it should have been the RON 600 receipts that won, according to the law. The draw had a record number of winners (over 18,000), which led to a very low prize (some RON 55) and diminished the people’s interest for the following draws.

The Finance Ministry kept the same order in all draws, which means that they were all wrong. Six draws have taken place so far.
