Romania’s forex reserves down by almost EUR 1 billion
Romania’s foreign exchange reserves amounted to EUR 31.729 billion at the end of June 2016, down EUR 943 million compared to the end of May 2016.
The forex reserves are managed by Romania’s National Bank (BNR). The reserves dropped by almost EUR 1 billion due to the redemption of Eurobonds maturing on June 17, which were worth EUR 1.58 billion.
The inflows amounted to EUR 979 million in June, whereas the outflows totaled EUR 1.92 billion. The gold reserve stayed at 103.7 tons, and its value reached EUR 3.94 billion.
In total, Romania’s international reserves, including both foreign exchange reserves and gold reserves, amounted to EUR 35.67 billion.
