Romania's former deputy general prosecutor sentenced to two years in jail
Gabriela Ghita, former deputy general prosecutor of Romania, was sentenced to two years in prison without parole for fraud during an examination contest for appointing chief prosecutors organized in 2007, reports local Mediafax.
Other five defendants in the same case also got between two and three years in jail.
Gabriela Ghita, former prosecutor at the High Court of Justice’s Prosecutor Office, was sentenced to two years in prison without parole for giving unauthorized persons access to information not intended for publicity.
Another defendant in the case, Sterian Guli, former head of the Urziceni Court Prosecutor Office, was also sentenced to two years in jail without parole, for instigation to allowing unauthorized persons access to information not intended for publicity, writes Mediafax.
Notary worker Gheorghe Bucur, a former judge of the Supreme Court and former member of the Superior Council of Magistracy, and Gheorghe Cerbeanu - former judge at Valcea Court, got sentences of two years and six months in jail without parole.
Also, Eugen Cojocaru and Gheorghe Dumitru were sentenced to three years in prison without parole.
The decision of the High Court of Cassation and Justice is final.
