Romania's GDP down 2.3% in nine months

The gross domestic product (GDP) was down 2.3 percent in the first nine months of 2010, compared to the similar period of 2009, according to data released by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).  The industry was the branch that registered the highest growth in activity volume, of 4.2 percent. Slight increases in the activity volume have also been registered in the financial field, in real estate, in the renting business and in the field of services for companies (plus 2.6 percent).

A decline in the volume of activity was accounted in agriculture, hunting and forestry, fishery and fish breeding (minus 7.6 percent), constructions (minus 14.9 percent); in trading activities, motorcar and home appliances repairs, hotels and restaurants; transports and telecommunications (minus 6.5 percent) and in other service delivering activities (minus 0.3 percent).
