Romania's Government could erase penalties for individuals with fiscal debt

09 October 2015

Romania’s Government could also erase the penalties for individuals with budgetary debt outstanding on September 30, 2015, if they pay their overdue taxes by March 31, 2016.

The Government initially announced that it would apply the fiscal amnesty to companies. The draft project, which provides that the fiscal amnesty also applies to individuals, was discussed on October 8 in a Government meeting, and should be approved in the next meeting, reports local Hotnews.ro.

According to the current bill, the measure will also apply to NGOs and companies under insolvency. Initially, the Finance Ministry came up with a project that referred only to companies, but it was later decided that it should apply without discrimination.
