Romania's Government OKs bill on foreign armed forces deployment and transit
The Romanian Government approved on Thursday, April 2, a bill on the deployment, transit and operations for foreign armed forces on Romania’s territory.
Prime Minister Victor Ponta said that it covers the staff and weapons for the NATO headquarters in Romania, reports local Ziarul Financiar.
The project needs the Supreme Council of National Defense (CSAT) approval, said Defense Minister Mircea Dusa.
The draft amends the 2007 law that regulates how foreign armed forces enter and transit Romania’s territory. In the current legislation, the Parliament needs to approve the establishment of foreign military bases.
