Romania's Hidroelectrica starts tender for refurbishing large power plant
Romania’s largest power producer Hidroelectrica will start next week the tender for refurbishing the Vidraru power plant.
The investment is estimated at EUR 80 million, said Remus Borza, the company’s judicial administrator.
The Vidraru power plant is one of the largest electricity producing units in the country. It has a capacity of 220 MW and went into operation in 1964.
Hidroelectrica also plans to inaugurate the 12-MW Bretea power plant in June, following an investment of EUR 50 million.
The company also wants to inaugurate the 35-MW Rastolnita power plant this year. However, it still needs a Government decision on the expropriation corridor. Hidroelectrica has already invested EUR 200 million in this project.
