Romania's High Court seizes EUR 1.4 mln of unjustified wealth
The High Court of Cassation and Justice has decided to seize about EUR 1.4 million from the wealth of the former director of Romania's railways operator CFR Alexandru Noaptes, an amount he cannot justify, reports local Mediafax. The High Court decision is irrevocable.
The trial began in December 2011 when the Commission for the investigation of Wealth within the Bucharest Court of Appeal found out that Alexandru Noaptes and his wife acquired without justification an amount of EUR 1.4 million. The investigation started following a notification submitted in August 2011 by the National Integrity Agency (ANI), which showed that the former general manager of CFR and his wife could not justify EUR 2.8 mln.
