Romania’s industry continues to grow in February
Romania’s industrial production went up by 4.9% (as a gross series) in February compared to the same month of 2016, according to the National Statistics Institute (INS).
The turnover in the industry sector also went up by 7.5% in February compared to the second month of last year.
The growth rates were slightly lower than the ones recorded in January when the industrial production went up by 5.8% and the turnover increased by 9.1% compared to January 2016. Overall, the industrial production went up by 5.4% in the first two months of this year while the turnover of industrial companies increased by 8.7%.
The manufacturing industry saw the highest turnover growth pace in February, namely 7.5%, whereas the mining industry witnessed an advance of 6.8% compared to February 2016.
All the large industrial groups recorded sales increases in February year-on-year, with the highest growth rates seen in the energy industry (+18.7%), the capital goods industry (+13.6%), and the durable goods industry (+ 8%).
