Romania’s new car sales go up by over 10%

Romanians bought almost 34,500 new cars in the first six months of the year, up 10.4% compared to the same period last year. The imports of second-hand cars also went up by 14% in this period, reaching over 112,000 cars.

Dacia is the best-selling new car in Romania, with over 11,000 registered units between January and June this year, followed by Skoda, with over 3,300 cars, and Volkswagen, with over 3,100 cars, reports local Hotnews.ro.

Among second-hand cars, Romanians preferred Volkswagen, with over 32,000 cars registered in this period, followed by Opel (over 19,000 cars) and Ford (almost 13,000 cars).

Romania’s car market started growing in 2014, when it recorded a 21.4% advance compared to the previous year. It was the first growth year after the market previously went down for six years in a row.
