Romania's online retail market surpasses EUR 1 bln
Romania's online retail exceeded EUR 1 billion in 2014 compared to EUR 600 million in 2013, according to estimates of the leading online retailers together with the GPeC representatives.
GPeC (eCommerce Awards Gala) centralizes and publishes an official report of the domestic e-commerce market each year.
The retail market was between EUR 1.1 and 1.2 billion last year. The figure refers exclusively to products sold online and not to services, utility payments, airline tickets, vacations, and trips.
In December 2014 Romania had about 5,000 online stores, compared to about 4,500 stores in December 2013. 1,173 of these were enrolled in the 3D Secure payment system, compared to about 1,000 in 2013.
