Romania’s Orthodox Church Metropolitan Bartolomeu Anania dies

Romania’s Bartolomeu Anania, the Metropolitan of Cluj, has died Monday in intensive care in a hospital in Cluj, where he had been place because of severe cardiac and respiratory problems.  The death of the church official was announced by the Archbishopric of Cluj. He would have turned 90 in March.

Anania was placed in intensive care in Cluj on January 25, upon his return from Vienna, where doctors decided he could not undergo heart surgery.
