Romania’s Paula Seling and Ovi take Miracle to Eurovision song competition finals
Romania has advanced to the Eurovision song competition finals after its representatives, Paula Seling and Ovi and their song Miracle got enough votes in the second semifinal of the competition on Thursday evening. Romania’s representatives, who are at their second Eurovision attendance, advanced with the help of votes from Romanians abroad, and foreigners from any of the competing countries.
Taking place in Copenhagen, Denmark, the semifinals resulted in ten countries qualified for the final on Tuesday this week: Montenegro, Hungary, Russia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, San Marino, Ukraine, Sweden, the Netherlands and Iceland. UK, Spain, Germany, France, Italy and Denmark went directly to the final.
Apart from Romania, Austria, Switzerland, Slovenia, Poland, Norway, Greece, Malta, Belarus and Finland emerged as finalists in the second semifinal.
The Eurovision competition gathered representatives from 37 countries. The final will take place on Saturday evening, May 10, and it will be broadcasted live on the public station TVR starting 22,00 – Romanian time.
Romania’s Paula Seling and Ovi got the third place at Eurovision in 2010, with their song Playing with Fire (listen to it below). This year’s song Miracle was composed by Ovi (Ovidiu Jacobsen), Phillip Halloun, Victor Forberg Skogberg and Frida Amundsen.
