Romania’s President-elect leads trust ranking, Central Bank governor comes next

Romania’s President-elect Klaus Iohannis leads a ranking of trust in public figures, being followed by Central Bank governor Mugur Isarescu and current Prime Minister Victor Ponta, according to a survey conducted by Inscop.

The data shows that Iohannis leads the ranking with a 60% share of trust, up from 35.2% in October. He is followed by Mugur Isarescu with 47.5%, slightly up from October, and Victor Ponta with 26.1%, down from 38.7%.

Sorin Oprescu, the mayor of Bucharest, comes fourth in the ranking, with a 23% share of trust, down from 27.3% registered in October.

The ranking is completed, in order, by President of the Senate Calin Popescu Tariceanu (22.5%), current President Traian Basescu (20.7%), the director of the Romanian Intelligence Service George Maior (19%), Romanian politician Mircea Geoana (18.2%), former Prime Minister Mihai Razvan Ungureanu (17.8%), and Romanian politicians Catalin Predoiu, Monica Macovei, Crin Antonescu, Vasile Blaga, Ludovic Orban, Emil Boc, Ion Iliescu, Theodor Stolojan, Elena Udrea, Liviu Dragnea, Dan Diaconescu, Laszlo Tokes and Kelemen Hunor.

If the parliamentary elections would be organized next week, the PNL-PDL association would get 41.7% of the votes, compared to 31.8% registered in October, followed by the PSD-UNPR-PC Alliance with 38.8%, down from 41.9% in October.

The survey was conducted between November 27 and December 2 on a sample of 1,076 people, at the request of Adevarul newspaper.
