Romania's President Klaus Iohannis will make visits to the European Commission in Brussels and to the Republic of Moldova in January, and will attend the European Council in February, said Mihai Razvan Ungureanu, the President's personal counsellor, according to Hotnews.ro.

The President’s staff is also working on arranging official visits in France and Germany, possibly in February, but the dates for these visits haven’t been decided yet.

Ungureanu said that there is no incompatibility between his position as the President's personal adviser and his position as senator. He added that he'll council the president in all policy areas, but the emphasis will be on the foreign and security policy.

Ungureanu said that he will have daily meetings with Iohannis and that he would accompany him in his foreign travels until the diplomat Lazar Comanescu will assume his duties as presidential adviser on foreign policy.
