Romania's pride! Alin Moldoveanu wins country's first gold medal at London Games
Alin Moldoveanu, aged 29 years, put in a stunning performance in the 10 m air rifle shooting competition, winning Romania's first gold medal at the Olympic Games 2012.
Moldoveanu, who equaled the Olympic record in qualification with 599 points, managed to gain a final score of 702.1, enough to give him the gold. The Romanian defeated world champion Italian Niccolo Campriani( 701.5 points), with the bronze going to the Indian Narang Gagan with 701.1 points.
Alin Moldoveanu was born in 1983 in Focsani. He has competed in shooting competitions since the age of 16 and trains six days a week for up to ten hours per day.
