Romania’s Sinaia mountain resort welcomes freeride challenge this weekend
Romanian mountain resort Sinaia will host the second stage of the Freeride Challenge Tour 2012 competition this weekend, the first freeride competition to be held in Romania.
The competition is organized into two qualifying phases and a final. The first stage was between February 3 to February 5, 2012, on the Borsa – Gargalau Peak route, while the second will take place between February 17 to 19 on the Sinaia – Valea lui Carp route. The final will be held between April 27-29 at Balea Lac.
“Sinaia, through its ski area, provides ideal conditions for all winter sports and is an attraction for this kind of competition. I will continue to encourage and support all the events that add value to Sinaia and are good for the town's image,” said Vlad Oprea, Mayor of Sinaia.
The Freeride Challenge Tour 2012 will have up to 70 competitors, divided into four categories: ski - 30 men, snowboard - 20 men, ski - 10 women, snowboard - 10 women. Read more about the competition here.
