Romania’s Social Democratic Party nominates candidates for the upcoming European Parliament elections
The National Executive Committee of Romania’s Social Democratic Party PSD has validated the list of candidates for the European elections to be held in May this year.
The current MEP Corina Cretu is first on PSD’s list, while former education minister Ecaterina Andronescu comes second on the list of candidates.
Other candidates are Dan Nica - Minister of Communications, Damian Draghici - the honorary adviser of Prime Minister Victor Ponta on problems of the Roma community, and Maria Grapini - Minister for Tourism and Small and Medium Enterprises.
Current MEPs Daciana Sarbu, who is also the wife of PM Victor Pona, Ioan Mircea Pascu and Viorica Danica are also on PSD’s list, which also includes Sorin Moisa, Victor Bostinaru, Claudiu Ciprian Tanasescu and Claudia Tapardel.
The following places on the list are held by a candidate supported by the Conservative Party (PC), a candidate supported by the National Union for the Progress of Romania (UNPR), one supported by PES Activists, and another one supported by the Social Democratic Youth (TCD).
Other candidates supported by local county organizations take the places 18 to 32 on the list.
