Bogdan Nicolae Stan is the new president of Romania’s tax agency ANAF, according to a decision of Prime Minister Sorin Grindeanu, which was published on Friday in the Official Gazette.

He will replace Dragos Doros, who resigned from the office on Thursday last week.

Doros said that he had decided to step out of the office before the parliamentary elections from December 2016, but that he waited until a replacement was found. He explained that his resignation was not related to the removal of the controversial tax form 008 for companies.

“These (the removal of the form) are things related to the governing program. Whether I carry them out, or the future ANAF president, it’s the same thing,” said Doros.

ANAF announced on Friday that it would remove the tax form 008 starting February 1.

The Social Democratic Party (PSD) leader Liviu Dragnea recently accused the Dacian Ciolos cabinet of collecting lower budget revenues than estimated at the last budget adjustment in November. However, ANAF reported last week that the fiscal revenues were higher in 2016 than in 2015 and only slightly lower than forecasted in November.
