Romania's Tax Agency collects less VAT than last year, due to tax cut
The total revenues collected by Romania’s National Fiscal Administration Agency (ANAF) in the first four months of the year amounted to RON 66.62 billion (EUR 14.8 million), said the ANAF president Dragos Doros.
The revenues were 3% higher than the estimations. However, compared to the same period last year, the fiscal revenues were only 1.1% higher.
The VAT revenues, which have the highest share in the state’s revenues, dropped by 9% or by EUR 378 million compared to the first four months of 2015, reaching EUR 4 billion. The ANAF president said that the evolution was normal, considering that the VAT rate was reduced from 24% to 20% at the beginning of the year.
The revenues from the tax on company profits were 7% over the estimated level for the period and 12% over the level recorded last year whereas the revenues from the individual income tax were 5% higher than programmed and 4% higher than last year, Doros said.
