Romania's Tax Authority sets up new departments, hires 1,000
Romania’s Tax Authority ANAF decided to set up several new departments and to increase the number of new positions within the institution by 1,000.
It has established a new department for tax enforcement. This will coordinate and monitor the enforcement procedures, and will also sell the seized goods, reports local Hotnews.ro.
ANAF has also set up the department for large fortunes that will deal only with collecting taxes from high net worth individuals. This will be subordinated to the ANAF president. The Tax Authority has also added a management position, namely a deputy secretary-general, who will coordinate the public procurement and investment department.
Some days ago, National Anticorruption Directorate chief prosecutor Laura Codruta Kovesi said that ANAF hasn’t done anything to recover the money seized by the prosecutors in the big corruption cases, in the last eight months.
