Romania’s ten biggest exporters make 17% of all exports
Romania’s ten biggest exporters reach 17% of the total export value while the biggest 500 exporters hold almost three-quarters (74%) of the total, according to the National Statistics Institute – INS’s data, compiled by local Ziarul Financiar.
Last year, Romania’s exports totaled almost EUR 55 billion. Carmaker Automobile Dacia and oil refiner Rompetrol Rafinare were the biggest two exporters, similar to the previous year while industrial group Honeywell went up to third place surpassing carmaker Ford Craiova.
The automotive sector dominates the biggest exporters’ ranking, with six of the top 10 companies coming from this sector.
Oil companies OMV Petrom and Lukoil, which used to be in the top 10 in previous years, went out of this group in 2015, while the Philip Morris cigarette producer and the Daimler automotive factory entered the top 10 for the first time.
Some 90% of the 500 biggest exporters in Romania, which exported EUR 40 billion worth of products in 2015, are multinationals.
