Google recently released its ranking of most searched terms during a year, also highlighting searches made in Romania in 2012. This year, the most popular searches show growing interest in entertainment, personalities, football, and curiosities related to "how is it made?" Or "what is ...?".

The biggest increase in searches compared to 2011 was recorded by Romanian Creative Monkeyz, the producer of the online cartoon Robotzi, followed by an increased interest in the results of the baccalaureate. Among the highest search volumes in 2012 were games and TV.

In the category of entertainment, the top spot is occupied by 'Romania's got talent' show, followed by 'Voice of Romania', which were the most popular TV shows. On the sports segment, the football matches which attracted the most attention in Romania were Steaua-Dinamo , followed by the game between Romania and the Netherlands.

Based on the searches, the movie of the year was Ice Age 4, and the song considered a hit belongs to Romanian singer Corina –“A ta”. The favorite food for Romanians, based on their Google searches, are sausages, meatball soup and pizza.

The Zeitgeist, or spirit of the age, is the intellectual fashion or dominant school of thought which typifies and influences the culture of a period, a German word which is attributed to the philosopher George Hegel, along with the philosophers Herder, Spencer and Voltaire. Google uses the word to showcase its search trends at the end of each year.
