Romania’s trade deficit down 2% year-on-year in October

Romania’s trade deficit went down to EUR 747.3 million in October 2011- a 2 percent drop on the same month last year, according to the Romanian National Statistics Institute (INS).

Exports grew by 16.2 percent, reaching EUR 4 billion, while imports advanced by 12.9 percent, to EUR 4.8 billion.

Romania delivered goods worth EUR 2.9 billion in the EU member states in October this year- 13.5 percent more than in October 2010, while the exports to countries outside the EU increased by 23.2 percent, to EUR 1.19 billion. Romania imported EUR 13.6 billion of products and services from EU countries and products of EUR 1.2 billion from countries outside the EU.

The country’s trade deficit went down by 0.8 percent in the first ten months of the year, to EUR 7.6 billion, according to the INS.
