Romania's trade deficit goes up by a third as imports reach new high
Romania’s exports reached EUR 45.9 billion in the first ten months of the year, up by 4.3% compared to the same period of 2014, whereas the imports totaled EUR 52.3 billion, recording a 7.1% increase, according to data published by the National Statistics Institute - INS.
The trade balance thus reached a deficit of EUR 6.4 billion, up by 31.6% over the same period in 2014.
In October, Romania’s exports were close to EUR 5 billion while the imports totaled EUR 5.87 billion, an all-time high.
In the first ten months, Romania exported EUR 33.3 billion worth of goods to the European Union countries, or 73.8% of all exports, and imported EUR 40.2 billion goods from the EU, namely 77% of the total imports. The exports outside the European Union amounted to EUR 12 billion, whereas the imports reached EUR 12.04 billion.
Car parts and transport equipment represented 44.2% of the total exports and 36.9% of imports.
