Romania’s unemployment rate reaches 6.4% in April
The unemployment rate in Romania amounted to 6.4% in April, similar to March.
The unemployment rate in the Eurozone stayed at 10.2% in April, down from 11% in the same period of 2015, according to EU’s statistical office Eurostat. It is the lowest unemployment level in the Eurozone since August 2011.
About 16.4 million people were unemployed in the Eurozone in April, out of a total population of 330 million.
The unemployment rate among young people reached 21.1%. The highest youth unemployment rate was recorded in Greece - 51.4%. Greece also had the highest overall unemployment – 24.2% while the Czech Republic had the lowest rate – 4.1%.
In the European Union, the unemployment rate dropped to 8.7% in April from 8.8% in March. It is the lowest level since April 2009.
Romania is among the member states with low unemployment rates.
