The ruling coalition Social Liberal Union (USL), which is trying to impeach Romania's president in the July 29 referendum, has asked for 100 polling stations at the seaside for the attendants of three major events during that weekend: Liberty Parade, Stufstock and the Jessie J concert.

USL officials say the number of seaside weekenders exceeds 140,000 people during the busy months of summer, which calls for an increase in the number of polling stations.

The USL is trying to increase the number of Romanians attending the referendum, which needs 50 percent plus one of the registered voters to attend in order to be valid. If the referendum is invalid, suspended president Traian Basescu will return to his presidential seat.

The USL wants 100 voting polls in Constanta, Mangalia, Navodari, Eforie, Costinesti and Limanu.

Around 60,000 people are expected at Liberty Parade, 20,000 people for the Stufstock Festival in Vama Veche and 10,000 people at the Jessie J concert on July 28.
