Measuring 100 sqm, the largest chessboard in the country was recently inaugurated in Vaslui, a city in eastern Romania. The chess pieces weigh tens of kilograms, reports local Digi24.

Romanian chess Woman Grandmaster Elisabeta Polihroniade and Vasile Paval, the mayor of Vaslui, made the first moves on the giant chessboard.

“It will be used by all those who want to do so. The chess pieces and all the necessary things will be provided, in order to make it useful,” said Vasile Paval.

Thus, the largest chessboard in the country will be available to all chess fans and, periodically, demonstrative games will be organized here.
