Romania’s visa refusal rate, still far from target for US Visa Waiver program
The refusal rate for visas to the US will probably not go below 3% in 2014 for Romania, said Hoyt Yee, the deputy assistant of the US State Secretary.
However, president Barack Obama supports changes in the criteria so that Romania is included in the US’ Visa Waiver program, said Yee, who visited Bucharest. Romania’s visa rejection rate was of 11.5% in 2013, and its target to qualify for being included into the Visa Waiver program is under 3%.
The target percentage could increase, to make it easier for countries which now have a higher refusal rate to be included in the program, but the law is still under debate in the American Congress.
