Only 3.25% of Romania’s waste is collected separately and recycled
Only 3.25% of the waste is collected separately and recycled in Romania’s cities, as the country had committed to reach a target of 50% by 2020, according to an analysis made by the Institute for Public Policies (IPP).
According to the analysis, the top three cities with the highest separate collection and recycling rates were Roman, with 75%, Targu Mures (34%) and Campia Turzii (19%), but these figures have been reported by the local authorities and couldn’t be checked, reports local Agerpres.
According to a survey, some 48% of Romanians consider that the current separate waste collection system is inefficient and does not protect the environment.
