Romantic melodies old and new promised for seventh SoNoRo chamber music festival in Romania

12 October 2012

The SoNoRo International Chamber Music Festival will be running again this November in Bucharest, Cluj, Timisoara and Iasi. The opening performance is scheduled for November 9 in the Cotroceni Palace's Sala Unirii and will be followed by 16 more concerts in the four cities up until November 25. It's the seventh time around for the music festival, this year titled 'Love Unlimited', and the organizers hope the romantic theme will attract greater audiences than ever before.

Performances are to include music by composers old and new, or at least newer, with pieces by Johannes Brahms, Franz Liszt, Antonin Dvorak, Franz Schubert, Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovski, Robert Schumann, as well as more modern composers Eric Satie, John Cage, George Gershwin, Astor Piazzolla and Karol Szymanowski featuring at this year's event. The concerts will be held in a number of venues, including the Athaneum and the National Art Museum in Bucharest. Check the festival website for more details on venues and performers.

For the first time this year, an official festival album, titled 'Love Songs,' will be released. It will include Johannes Brahms, Josef Suk and Antonín Dvořák compositions performed by musicians Diana Ketler, Konstantin Lifschitz, Andrej Bielow and Răzvan Popovici.

Tickets and subscriptions are available through through the Eventim network, at Germanos, Orange, Vodafone, Domo, Carturesti, Humanitas shops and online at eventim.ro.
