RWE discards Dobrogea wind project on permitting issues but continues wind quest in Romania

Energy company RWE has given up on a wind park in Dobrogea area of Romania after it failed to receive the construction permits and due to land ownership issues, according to company representatives quoted by the Romanian media.

RWE had taken over the 90 percent participation in a wind project in Mihai Viteazu locality from Romanian firm Sabloal, but sold the share package back to the initial seller. However, RWE has not given up on its plans to build wind parks in Romania and is currently negotiating to take over two wind projects in Dobrogea and Galati.

RWE is also a shareholder in the company which will build the 3 and 4 nukes in Cernavoda project. Romanian media however has mentioned RWE could give up on this project as well. RWE would be the second investor to withdraw from the Cernavoda project, after CEZ.
