Salaries in Romania go down in August
The average net salary in Romania dropped by 1.9% in August compared to July, reaching about EUR 410. The gross average salary amounted to some EUR 570.
People who work in the oil and natural gas extraction sector recorded the highest average salary of about EUR 1,080. On the other side, those working in hotels received the lowest net salary.
The net salaries went down in August in most economic activities in Romania. This is due to the fact that several companies offered occasional bonuses in July. Another reason for the lower net salaries is the lower activity in August. Many employees have been on holiday so they didn’t receive some of their benefits, such as food vouchers.
The net salaries in the car manufacturing sector recorded the biggest decrease of 12.6% in August compared to July. The pharmaceutical manufacturing sector also saw lower salaries by 11.8%. The salaries in textile manufacturing dropped by 6-9%.
Compared to August 2014, the average net wage went up by 7.7%.
