Sales of eco cars in Romania more than double
The sales of new electric and hybrid cars reached 332 units in Romania in the first nine months of the year, up by 111% compared to the same period in 2014. Only 22 of them were 100% electric. The eco cars represented 0.5% of the total number of new cars sold in this period.
In September, some 60 electric and hybrid cars were sold, more than double compared to August.
Romania is still far behind countries such as Norway, France, the Netherlands or Germany for the sales of eco cars. The diesel cars continued to dominate the market, with over 53% of the total cars sold, or 37,580 units.
The new car sales reached almost 70,000 units in the first nine months, up by 13.5% compared to the same period of 2014.
