Saliva test for early tracking of predisposition to serious illnesses to arrive soon in Romania

17 October 2012

A saliva test will arrive soon in Romania that will allow tracking from childhood of predisposition to serious diseases such as cancer, multiple sclerosis and other conditions, said doctor Lygia Alexandrescu, lecturer and president of the Romanian Society of Nutritional Education yesterday (October 16 ), quoted by news agency Mediafax.

Alexandrescu said that she doesn’t recommend avoiding meat products but supports the idea that they should be of high quality and eaten in small quantities. In addition, she notes that people should read the labels on food.

"We have a great responsibility with nutrition, because the effects can be seen after 20 years and are transmitted up to the fourth generation. We are 99.9 percent identical, only 0.1 percent differentiates us, namely our ability to interact with the environment. Depending on our relationship with the environment, disorders and serious diseases such as cancer or Alzheimer's can occur.  We must have a limit in everything,” said Professor Natalia Cucu, a director of a genetics research laboratory.
