Sam Havadtoy exhibition coming soon to Cluj Art Museum, Romania

Cluj-Napoca's Art Museum is holding an exhibition of work by Sam Havadtoy, titled 'Iubiri uitate' (Forgotten loves) between September 28 and November4, 2012. The exhibition 'Iubiri uitate' will feature paintings and objet d'art made ​​by the artist in recent years .

Sam Havadtoy was born in 1952 in London into a family with roots in Transylvania. Arriving in New York in 1972, the artist first worked as an interior designer, before joining the art scene where he met and in some cases worked with the likes of Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, David Bowie, and Robert Rauschenberg. He contributed to some of Keith Haring's later works.

After John Lennon's death, Havadtoy began a relationship with Yoko Ono and the couple stayed together for around 20 years. Following the end of Communism in Eastern Europe, Havadtoy started Galeria 56 in Hungary, which played an important role in promoting contemporary Hungarian artists. Since 2000 he has lived in Hungary and Italy.
