Selection of new UK movies hits Bucharest screen at British Film Days

07 March 2012

British movies will take over the screen at the National Museum of Romanian Peasantry in Bucharest between March 8 and 12, when the British Council will hold its annual British Film Days.

The series will start with a screening of a documentary called 'The British Guide To Showing Off', which is centered around the 'Alternative Miss World' show, designed by contemporary British artist Andrew Logan. The movie will be on screen on Thursday, March 8, from 18:00. It will be followed by a screening of Coriolanus, a film adaptation of one of Shakespeare's lesser known play and the long awaited debut by Ralph Fiennes as a director.

The highly praised and awarded 'Weekend' will end the series of British movies, scheduled to run on Monday, March 12, from 20:00. The movie, rated unsuitable for under 18s, explores the struggles of young people with different sexual orientation from the majority.

Another highlight in the program is the movie ' How to Re-Establish a Vodka Empire', a documentary that follows the journey of director Daniel Edelstyn in search of his Jewish Ukrainian heritage. The movie will be pre-screened in Bucharest, before its mid-March premiere in the UK.

The daily screenings will start at 18:00 and entry is free of charge.
