The Senate on Tuesday passed by unanimous vote a Government's draft law concerning some expropriation measures in the case of projects of national, local and county interest, as amended by the Committee on Privatisation and the Judicial Committee.  In supporting the law, Transport and Infrastructure Minister Anca Boagiu said the passage of the draft law will generate savings of nearly EUR 1 billion, an amount that covers the constructors' claims  for delays in works of public utility.

Under the draft law, a simplified expropriation procedure is included, with guarantees that on the one hand property rights are observed and, on the other, owners are justly compensated.
