The stock of modern retail outside Bucharest has surpassed 2 million sqm this year, reaching 2.04 million sqm after the opening of the Coresi shopping mall in Brasov.

Shopping centers represent about 62% of the total stock of modern retail, whereas retail parks represent 22%, and commercial galleries account for 16%.

Next year the modern retail stock will exceed 2.1 million sqm, as new shopping centers will be completed in Timisoara and Craiova, reads the DTZ Echinox report.

About 60% of the current modern retail stock outside of Bucharest was delivered between 2006 and 2008. Coresi Shopping City Brasov has been the only shopping center opened outside of Bucharest this year.
