Siemens opens R&D center in northwestern Romania
German group Siemens on Tuesday, February 24, inaugurated a regional research & development (R&D) center in Cluj-Napoca, northwestern Romania, which now has 50 employees but targets 210 in the next two years.
The investment amounts to EUR 4.5 million and includes rent costs for the next five years, installment costs and the initial investment in the infrastructure.
The new 3,000 sqm center is located in an office building within the Liberty Technology Park.
Siemens has four R&D centers in Bucharest, Brasov and Cluj-Napoca and four plants in Sibiu and Buzias.
This year the company wants to hire 50 at its software center in Brasov and also plans to expand one of its plants in Sibiu.
