Romania's smartphone sales will reach about three million units this year, compared to 1.7 million units in 2013, 200,000 of which belong to the Chinese telecom equipment producer Huawei, said Sorina Macarescu, the marketing director of Huawei Romania.

"We will end this year with sales of 200,000 units, up 80% compared to 2013. The bestselling phone is Huawei Ascend Y530, with more than half of the total number of units sold. The flagship Huawei Ascend P7 has a 10% share in the local sales," Macarescu added, cited by local Wall-street.ro.

Huawei expects its smartphone sales to increase by 80-100% in 2015.

"In Romania, Huawei ranks 6th among the phone manufacturers. We fight with LG, Sony and HTC. The first three places are occupied by Samsung, Allview and the local mobile operators' brands," said Macarescu.
