Over half of the software used in Romania is not licensed
About 59% of the software installed on computers and laptops in Romania is not properly licensed. The share is only 1 percentage point lower than in 2016, according to a study by The Software Alliance (BSA).
Worldwide, some 37% of the software running on computers is not licensed, down 2 percentage points compared to 2016, according to the same study.
Using unlicensed software is both risky and expensive, as malware from unlicensed software costs companies worldwide nearly USD 359 billion each year, according to the study.
