Music streaming service Spotify launched in Romania on Monday, March 12. The service offers access to a portfolio of 35 million Romanian and international songs.

Spotify is the biggest music streaming service in the world and its main competitors are Apple and Amazon.com. At the beginning of this year, Spotify reached 70 million paying customers.

The platform has a free version, which is supported with advertising, and a premium one, which is available for a subscription of EUR 4.99 per month. A subscription for Apple Music and (Google) Play Music also costs EUR 5 per month.

With its entry on the Romanian market, Spotify has reached 65 countries.

Spotify was launched in 2008 and currently has some 159 million users, 88 million of whom use the free version.
