The general strike announced for May 31st has started to put at risk several transport sectors in Romania. Employees of the Romanian state-run airline Tarom will join the public workers' general strike on May 31st and will cove only a third of their activity on that day. The airline is yet to announce what will happen to the flight scheduled for that day.

Tarom employees will join employees of the Romanian railways (CFR), Bucharest metro (Metrorex), and possibly Bucharest's public transportation system (RATB). The public system employees will be protesting against the announced wage cut of 25 percent in the public system, which will be included in the letter of intent to be sent to the IMF in the next days, in order to release the next loan installments for the country.
