State Secretary: 30% of Romanians to make online orders by 2020
About 20% of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) should receive online orders by 2020, whereas 30% of all population aged 16-74 should be able to purchase goods and services online by the same year, said Bebe-Viorel Ionica, State Secretary in the Ministry for the Information Society.
He spoke during the “e-Commerce” conference organized by online publication Gandul.
Only 10% of the Romanians aged 16-74 made purchases online last year, and only 7% of SMEs sold goods or services online, according to a European Commission report. By comparison, 14% of the big companies traded products or services online.
The online retail amounted to some EUR 1.1 billion in 2014, according to Andrei Radu, GpeC founder. The number refers only to goods sold online and does not include services.
