Stock market capitalization reaches all-time high in Romania
The market capitalization of all companies listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB), including international ones, exceeded RON 150 billion (EUR 33.5 billion) in May, for the first time in the history of the local bourse.
The highest level was recorded on May 19, when capitalization amounted to EUR 33.9 billion. At the end of May, capitalization reached EUR 33.8 billion, up 3% over the end of April.
The market capitalization of Romanian companies listed on the BVB dropped from EUR 19.2 billion to EUR 19 billion in May.
The shares of Romanian electricity distributor Electrica provided 15.29% of the transactions’ value carried out in May, whereas investment fund Fondul Proprietatea accounted for 14.25% of their value.
