Stone Roses original line-up appearing at festival in Romania this summer, Hurts, Big Pink also on
Manchester indie legends The Stone Roses (in picture) will headline at the Summer Well indie, pop and rock music festival on August 11 and 12 this year. Now in its second year, the festival will be held at the Stirbey Domain in Buftea, near Bucharest .
Late last year the original members of the Stone Roses announced plans for a reunion, promising a world tour and new material.
Netting the Stone Roses is something of a coup for the Summer Well Festival and should bring in a lot of people from outside Romania. They formed in the 80s in Manchester and pioneered the Madchester movement during late 80s and early 90s. Their debut album came in 1989 but the band split soon after releasing their second in 1994.
The original members, vocalist Ian Brown, guitarist John Squire, bassist Gary "Mani" Mounfield and drummer Alan "Reni" Wren, have now confirmed the Summer Well Festival as part of their world tour.
After lining up bands such as Interpol, The Wombats, Plan B and Noissetes last year, this year's Summer Well will also feature Hurts, returning to Romania after the sold out concert in Bucharest last year, Patrick Wolf, The Big Pink, The Vaccines and Glasvegas.
British electro-pop duo Hurts include Theo Hutchcraft (vocals) and Adam Anderson (electronics, guitar). The Big Pink is an English electro-rock duo comprising multi-instrumentalists Robbie Furze and Milo Cordell. Listen to some of their songs below.
